Clayvista is the business that evolved because I needed a ceramic tile that I loved enough to put in my newly constructed butlers pantry. The trend in commercial tile seemed to lean toward the slick, contemporary look that works well with stainless steel and stone. Like all market trends it was pervasive, yet I wanted something more individual. My vision was a tile with all the luscious color, form and luminosity of majolica and art pottery of the past.
I have a BFA in painting and sculpture from another era in my life which has lead me in a few directions over the years. For fifteen of those I have been creating ceramic wallhangings, plates and bowls. In the tradition of the great botanical artists my work is inspired by natures most beautiful and delicate patterns. Created with a little less science and a little more fun, my pieces appeal to a modern viewer who loves nature and her forms.
I hope you enjoy browsing through my work. More tile murals and borders are coming. They are designed with a subtle color palette that is more suitable for a permanent application like a backsplash. I am also exploring a less permanent series that need not be installed by a professional and can even be changed seasonally. Be sure and visit often to check out these new developments.
